The General Administration for Environmental Projects in the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Computers and Information at Mansoura University, organized an initiative titled “Digital Safety and Ways to Prevent Electronic Blackmail and Cyberbullying” on Monday, August 11, 2025.

In addition to a number of faculty members, staff of the university and university hospitals, and 77 participants from various university sectors representing the Faculties of Law, Computers and Information, Nursing, Education, Early Childhood Education, Tourism and Hotels, Medicine, Agriculture, Fine Arts, Commerce, as well as several hospitals, medical centers, and administrative units of the university, along with students.
The activities of the initiative began with the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. Then Dr. Mostafa Amin — General Director of the General Administration for Environmental Projects — welcomed the attendees, conveying the greetings of the University President and Vice President. He highlighted the role of such initiatives in raising awareness about the dangers of electronic blackmail and digital bullying.
Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Tamimi then delivered a speech welcoming the attendees and commending the role of the initiative in raising awareness and introducing legal means of self-protection and legal deterrence of offenders. He also emphasized the role of the General Administration for Environmental Projects in launching such important and educational initiatives that benefit faculty, staff, and students.
This was followed by a lecture from Prof. Dr. Noha Ahmed Hikal — Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs — who discussed how technology can be used to combat crimes of electronic blackmail and cyberbullying. She also provided correct methods for using technology safely, along with guidelines for preventing blackmail and cyberbullying, and highlighted the importance of psychological support.
Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Din — Professor and Head of the Department of Private International Law at the Faculty of Law — delivered a lecture titled “Towards Safe Internet Use”, where she discussed the legislative framework of Egyptian law, the laws combating cybercrimes, the Penal Code, telecommunications regulations, and data protection laws. She also addressed the most prominent types of cybercrimes and the legal protection mechanisms against electronic blackmail and cyberbullying.
The event concluded with a Q&A session where attendees posed questions to the lecturers.
