A new literacy convoy in Al-Shawami village, affiliated to the Sinbilawein Center, Dakahlia Governorate
Mansoura University Continues Its Efforts to Combat Illiteracy in Al-Shawami Village, Belqas Center, Thursday, November 21, 2024
As part of Mansoura University's continuous efforts to serve and develop the community, and under the auspices of Professor Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Professor Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Mansoura University launched a new literacy caravan in the village of Al-Shawami, which belongs to the Senbelawein Center in Dakahlia Governorate.
🎯 "Dakahlia Without Illiteracy" Initiative 🎯
This caravan is part of the "Dakahlia Without Illiteracy" initiative, which is being implemented by the Adult Education Center at Mansoura University and the General Administration of Environmental Projects within the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in collaboration with the Adult Education Authority of Dakahlia.
The event was attended by:
- Prof. Dr. Amani Ghabour, Coordinator of the Adult Education Committee at the Faculty of Specific Education.
- Dr. Aya Al-Arabi, Secretary of the University’s Adult Education Center.
- Mr. Michael Nagi, from the General Administration of Environmental Projects.
- Mr. Samih Al-Barmawi, University Coordinator for Illiteracy and Adult Education in Dakahlia Branch.
The initiative aims to improve the quality of life for citizens by eradicating illiteracy and enhancing the capabilities of individuals in local communities.

This effort is part of the achievement of the goals of the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human", which seeks to develop local communities and enhance individual skills, contributing to sustainable development.
📚 Wide Participation from the Local Community
The caravan was warmly received by:
- Ms. Naglaa El-Dib, Head of the Local Unit of Belqas City and Center.
- Ms. Nahed El-Zeir, Director of Adult Education Administration in Belqas.
- 32 teachers and employees from the Adult Education Authority in Belqas and Dakahlia Branch.
- Mr. Ahmed El-Gohary, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, and Ms. Ibtisam Saad Abdel Hakim.
The caravan received great interest from the village residents, with a large number of people enrolling for literacy courses. Success certificates were distributed to new learners, and certificates were given to people with special needs. Additionally, an awareness seminar was held about the "Bidaya" initiative and the role of adult literacy and education in improving the quality of life in rural Egypt and achieving sustainability.
