Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sherif Khater and Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, the Faculty of Law organized a seminar today titled "The Dangers of Illegal Migration and Human Smuggling." The event was attended by a distinguished group of experts and specialists in the field.

The faculty hosted Ambassador Nabil El-Habashy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Ms. Naela Gabr, Chairperson of the National Committee for Combating Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking.

Dr. Alaa Al-Tamimi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Community Service and Environmental Affairs, opened the seminar by highlighting the severe consequences of illegal migration and its negative impact on national economies. Ambassador Nabil El-Habashy then discussed the root causes of this phenomenon, linking it to labor market challenges and analyzing key local and global factors affecting employment opportunities.

Ms. Naela Gabr emphasized the crucial role of the National Committee in combating these crimes, stressing the importance of raising awareness and providing proper training for all stakeholders involved in this issue. She also highlighted the social role of Egyptian women as a fundamental pillar of family and societal stability.

Brigadier General Walid El-Shenawy addressed the issue from a legal perspective, distinguishing between illegal migration, which is a criminal offense under national law, and asylum, which is a right protected by international law.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session where attendees raised questions and inquiries, leading to a rich exchange of insights. This in-depth dialogue shed light on various aspects of this critical issue, which remains one of the most pressing topics in academic and societal discourse today.
