Launch of an Awareness Initiative on Occupational Safety, Health, and Ensuring a Safe Work Environment at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education – Mansoura University

The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Mansoura University, in collaboration with the Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Security Department at the university, organized a training workshop titled "Occupational Safety, Health, and Ensuring a Safe Work Environment" on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

  • Counselor Ahmed Ragab – Director of the Labor Directorate in Dakahlia
  • Dr. Magdy Mohamed El Sayed – Head of the Eastern Delta Region at the Environmental Affairs Agency
  • Prof. Dr. Dalia El Atrebi – Director of the Public Service Center for Occupational Safety and Health
  • Dr. Abu El Fotouh Hassan Abu El Fotouh – Director of the Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Security Department
  • Chemist Dalia Nabil Suleiman – Director of the Waste and File Management Department at the Northern Region at the Environmental Affairs Agency

The workshop aimed to spread the culture of occupational safety, health, and ensuring a safe work environment among the administrative staff and security sector at the Faculty. It was attended by a number of faculty members, teaching assistants, and members of the community service and environmental development committees, as well as the faculty's environmental team and individuals interested in occupational safety and health from various sectors. The workshop was also honored by the presence of delegations from the Gastrointestinal Surgery Center and the University Dormitories at Mansoura University.

Training Workshop Objectives:

  • Raising awareness about the importance of occupational safety and health in the work environment
  • Equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to apply occupational safety and health procedures
  • Reducing occupational risks and accidents, and improving the work environment
  • Enhancing the performance of individuals involved in various work-related functions at the faculty

Main Activities of the Workshop: The workshop began with a welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samah Khamis, Vice Dean of the Faculty, where she discussed the importance of occupational safety and health in the work environment and its positive impact on professional performance.

Chemist Dalia Nabil Suleiman spoke about the proper management of waste and hazardous materials and how to dispose of them safely. Dr. Abu El Fotouh Hassan Abu El Fotouh delivered a lecture on safety and health procedures in the work environment, covering topics such as fire hazards, types of fires, and correct methods of using fire extinguishers, as well as discussing the dangers of electricity and gas and how to prevent them.

Mr. Mahmoud El-Deeb provided a practical demonstration on how to use fire extinguishers, explaining the different types and correct maintenance methods.

At the end of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Dalia El Atrebi gave a speech emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety rules and ensuring a safe work environment within the faculty, stressing the need to follow preventive measures to guarantee a safe workplace.

Discussions and Recognition: The workshop featured an open discussion session where experts answered attendees' questions about common risks, such as burns, electrical hazards, and hazardous materials, as well as providing guidance on the best ways to deal with them.

The workshop concluded with the recognition of participants, where Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samah Khamis presented commemorative plaques to honor their contributions to raising awareness and promoting the correct practices of occupational safety and health. Surveys were also distributed to measure the benefits of the workshop and identify topics for future training events.

These initiatives reflect the efforts of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Mansoura University to promote a safe and healthy work environment and achieve the highest standards of occupational safety within educational institutions.
