Workshop on "Soft Skills and Communication Art in the Tourism Sector" for the Graduate Follow-up Unit – Sunday, February 23, 2025

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty, with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Doaa Samir Hazza, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the organization of Dr. Esraa Ahmed Abdel Megid, Director of the Graduate Follow-up Unit, and coordination by Eng. Norhan Gamal, Graduate Follow-up and Employment Officer for Tourism Studies Graduates, the workshop took place in the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Aliwa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hilal Tourism Company and Member of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers.

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, the workshop titled "Soft Skills and Communication Art in the Tourism Sector" was held as part of the professional development programs for graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Dr. Hossam Hamed Hazzah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Egyptian Travel Makers Tourism Company and a Member of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, presented the workshop. He discussed the definition of soft skills and their importance for employees in the tourism sector to interact effectively with colleagues and clients. Key soft skills discussed included communication, customer service, time management, teamwork, flexibility, adaptability, negotiation, and emotional intelligence.

The workshop also covered the skills required for each department in tourism companies, such as:

  • Sales and marketing department
  • Reservation and ticketing department
  • Public relations and customer service department
  • Operations and logistics department
  • Financial management
  • Human resources and training department

At the end of the workshop, participants were encouraged to create a collaborative work environment to enhance teamwork and communication skills. The importance of using modern technology to develop skills and improve performance was also emphasized. The session concluded with answering questions and addressing queries from the audience.

The workshop was attended by faculty members, teaching assistants, final-year students, and graduates of the faculty.
