Visit of the Divine Care Private Boys’ Language School to the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University

Under the patronage of Prof. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, along with Prof. Osama Ibrahim Al-Ayan, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Fathy Abu El-Nour, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the faculty welcomed a school visit as part of the educational outreach program of the Dakahlia Directorate of Education during the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Divine Care Private Boys’ Language School visited the Faculty of Science, where they were received by the Vice Dean for Environmental Affairs. The delegation, which included Mr. John Halim Hakim (Social Specialist) and Ms. Nadia Lotfi Girgis (Science Teacher), along with the students, was warmly welcomed. The Vice Dean delivered an introductory speech highlighting the significance of the Faculty of Science, its role in societal development, and its contributions to scientific research at the university, national, and global levels.

The visit continued with an exploration of various faculty departments:

  • Geology Department: The students toured the Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center, where researcher Hossam Abdel Latif introduced them to some of the center’s unique global discoveries.
  • Geology Museum: Dr. Samar Hamdy, the museum director, provided an engaging explanation of the museum’s collections, including different types of gemstones, their extraction process, and preservation methods.
  • Zoology Department: Dr. Mostafa Dawood, Assistant Lecturer, guided the students through the art of taxidermy, explaining various preservation techniques and rare specimens. The visit concluded with a tour of the department’s panoramic exhibit, showcasing a wide variety of preserved and taxidermied animal specimens from different biological classifications.
