The Faculty of Commerce, Represented by the Community Service Sector at Mansoura University, Celebrates the Legacy of Umm Kulthum with a Special Cultural Symposium
On Tuesday, the Faculty of Commerce organized a cultural symposium titled "The Journey of Umm Kulthum – From Senbelawin to Paris", marking the 50th anniversary of the passing of the Lady of Arab Singing, the Star of the East, Umm Kulthum.
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Sherif Khater, President of the University, and Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. It was supervised by Prof. Mona Dakrouri, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Samah Hafez, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The symposium was organized in collaboration with Iman Abu El-Gheit Foundation – Awan for Culture and Arts, led by Ms. Iman Abu El-Gheit, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. It featured notable speakers, including Dr. Sherif Saleh, novelist, literary critic, and professor at the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Badr University; Mr. Mohamed Attwa, the foundation's cultural advisor; and Eng. Magdy Youssef, a musician. They delivered insightful lectures on Umm Kulthum’s artistic journey and her cultural and musical influence in Egypt and the Arab world.
The event witnessed an outstanding attendance from faculty members and students, with active participation from Students for Egypt and the Student Union. The symposium created a rich cultural atmosphere, reaffirming the university’s leading role in preserving and celebrating artistic and cultural heritage.
