Seminar Titled "Mechanisms for Securing and Sustaining the Work Environment" at the Faculty of Physical Education – Mansoura University

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater – President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelazim Mohamed – Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdelazim – Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, and led by Prof. Dr. Khaled Mohamed Ziada – Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in response to a kind invitation from the Faculty's administration, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the University, represented by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the University’s Crisis and Disaster Management Center, and the Public Service Center for Occupational Safety and Health, held a seminar titled “Mechanisms for Securing and Sustaining the Work Environment” on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the Prof. Dr. Mahrous Kandil Hall at the faculty.

The seminar was attended by administrative staff of the faculty, occupational safety and health officers from the university’s faculties, hospitals, specialized medical centers, and general departments, as well as a number of students.

The seminar activities began at 10:00 AM with the national anthem, followed by a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by student [name to be inserted]. Then, Prof. Dr. Khaled Mohamed Ziada delivered a welcoming speech, followed by the first lecture presented by Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim Saad – Director of the University Crisis and Disaster Management Center – titled “Work Environment Hazards”, in which he addressed various types of hazards, examples relevant to university institutions, preventive measures to avoid incidents, and ways to minimize impacts if such incidents occur.

This was followed by a lecture from Prof. Dr. Dalia El-Sayed Ahmed El-Etreby – Director of the Public Service Center for Occupational Safety and Health at the university – titled “Managing Waste and Materials in the Work Environment”. She discussed definitions of municipal waste, solid and non-solid materials, regular and hazardous waste, and how to manage and safely dispose of them, as well as the penalties outlined in Environmental Law No. 4 of 1994 and Waste Management Law No. 202 of 2020.

The third lecture was given by Dr. Aboulfotouh Hassan Aboulfotouh – Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration at the university – titled “The Role of Facility Members in Securing the Work Environment”. He explained the concept of safety from both linguistic and professional perspectives, personal safety, safety in civil defense, the meaning of occupational safety and health, the concept of the work environment, types of work environments, the difference between occupational safety and health, work environment security, crises, and disasters from both conceptual and legal standpoints. He also outlined the vision and mission of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector regarding occupational safety and health, the necessity of having a safety and health unit in every institution, general goals of occupational safety and health, the responsibilities of safety officers, and the importance and mechanisms of involving all members of an institution in maintaining work environment safety. He concluded by reviewing laws and regulations related to safety in various work environments.

The seminar concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session, during which evaluation forms for the seminar and speakers were distributed to attendees.
