To boost collaboration between Mansoura University and Dakahlia Governorate and to put into effect the initiative of General Omar Al-Shwadfi, the new Governor of Dakahlia and Professor El-Sayed Abdel Khalek, the President of Mansoura University &ndash

; it has been agreed upon the start of the required studies for the construction of a new civil airport at the Governorate and they are to be conducted by the University, in the near future.
In this context, the University President has commissioned Prof. Mohamoud Elmeliegy the University Vice-President and Professor of Structural Engineering to be in charge of the file concerning airport construction studies. In this capacity, on Sunday Sept.1st, Professor Elmeliegy held an urgent meeting with the deans of the faculties of Engineering, Commerce, Tourism and Hotels, Physical Education and a number of architectural Engineering Professors at Faculty of Engineering of Mansoura University to lay the general framework of the studies, to give assignments to each member and to discuss the importance of this airport to Al-Dakahlia and the neighbouring governorates.
Prof. Elmeliegy has stressed the urgent implementation of this important project which will help in facilitating travel, encouraging domestic and foreign tourism especially medical tourism , supporting the industrial sites at Gamasa and Damietta,creating new job opportunities, and developing the surrounding areas of the airport.
