Seminar on "The Role of Women in Community Work and the Culture of Volunteering" at the Faculty of Agriculture
As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence global campaign and in alignment with the presidential initiative "Bidaya" (Beginning), which falls under Egypt's Vision 2030 launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the seminar was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdelazim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The event was also led by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Shata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Prof. Dr. Metwally Abu Sarea, Vice Dean for Community Development and Environmental Affairs, and supervised by Dr. Samah El-Sayed, Director of the Unit for Combating Violence Against Women at the university, and Dr. Zahraa Motawea, Coordinator of the Unit at the Faculty. The seminar was conducted in partnership with the Bint Al-Ard Association for Women's Development.
The seminar, titled "The Role of Women in Community Work and the Culture of Volunteering," was delivered by Engineer Hala Ismail, Chairwoman of the Association. The session began with a documentary video showcasing the activities of Bint Al-Ard Association over the past ten years.
The talk proceeded to address volunteering, its definition, and included a discussion around four key questions related to volunteer work:
- Why should I volunteer?
- What are the fields of volunteer work?
- How can I volunteer?
- Where can I volunteer?
Eng. Hala Ismail provided examples of the association's work, including their focus on women's and children's issues, training programs, offering diverse educational services, environmental protection and preservation, as well as social development and assistance.
She also discussed areas of collaboration between the association and the Unit for Combating Violence Against Women at the Faculty of Agriculture.
At the end of the seminar, the Faculty of Agriculture at Mansoura University honored the Chairwoman of the Association on behalf of its members.
