Workshop: "Awareness of the Dangers of Substance Abuse and Addiction" - Monday, December 16, 2024 In collaboration between the Anti-Smoking Committee on Campus and the Volunteer House at Mansoura University

As part of the ongoing activities of the Presidential Initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human" at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and under the patronage of:

  • Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdel Aziz El-Dakroury, Supervisor of the Volunteer House, former Professor and Head of Forensic Medicine and Clinical Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine, Addiction File Manager at Mansoura University, and Member of the Higher Committee for Combating Addiction

On Monday, December 16, 2024, the Anti-Smoking Committee on Campus, in collaboration with the Volunteer House at Mansoura University, organized a workshop titled "Awareness of the Dangers of Substance Abuse and Addiction" as part of the Faculty's plan to participate in the International Volunteer Day activities.

The workshop featured a lecture by Mr. Bilal Shaaban Ali, General Supervisor of Preventive Programs at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse in Dakahlia Governorate. The lecture focused on raising awareness among the Faculty's affiliates about the dangers of substance abuse and addiction, including:

  • Causes and motives behind substance abuse
  • Complications
  • Withdrawal symptoms and coping mechanisms
  • Prevention methods and their importance

Additionally, the Anti-Smoking Committee on Campus welcomed the Volunteer House team, comprised of volunteers from the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, to implement field awareness activities for December 2024. This involved on-site awareness campaigns about the dangers of substance abuse and addiction. Informative banners were distributed across various areas of the Faculty to educate affiliates from all categories.
