Celebration for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Dr. Magdy Rayan Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Thursday, December 19, 2024

As part of Mansoura University's strategic plan for social responsibility, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in collaboration with the "Decent Life" Foundation in Dakahlia, organized a celebration on Thursday, December 19, 2024, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was held at Dr. Magdy Rayan Hall, Faculty of Engineering.
The celebration witnessed remarkable attendance, with over 300 individuals with disabilities participating. Various schools presented artistic performances, adding a festive atmosphere to the event. The ceremony concluded with the honoring of several successful figures with disabilities who achieved notable sports accomplishments. Additionally, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Mansoura University for its outstanding efforts in supporting persons with disabilities and fostering cooperation in recent times.
Attendees included:
- Dr. Ghada El-Qenishy - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, representing Mansoura University.
- Dr. Hossam El-Helaly - Coordinator of the "Decent Life" Foundation at the university.
- Dr. Waleed Shoaib - Director of Special Education at the Directorate of Education in Dakahlia, representing the Ministry.
From the "Decent Life" Foundation, attendees included:
- Major General Wael Shoukry
- Dr. Mona Youssef
- Ms. Dana Foda
Also in attendance were Colonel Mohamed Badrawy, Director of the Dakahlia Office, Engineer Mohamed Sami, General Coordinator for the Governorate, and the university’s team of volunteers.
In a related context, a medical convoy for children with disabilities was conducted on the Wednesday prior to the celebration in the village of Borg Al-Nour Al-Homos in Aga District. A total of 394 children benefited from the convoy, with 22 cases referred for further treatment at university hospitals.
These events reflect Mansoura University and the "Decent Life" Foundation's commitment to supporting persons with disabilities, enhancing their role in society, and providing comprehensive care.
