The team of the "You Can Without It" initiative for raising awareness about the dangers of addiction and ways to prevent and treat it at the Faculty of Commerce
The Faculty of Commerce at Mansoura University hosted the team of the "You Can Without It" initiative on Monday, February 24, 2025, under the auspices of Professor Dr. Sherif Khater, the University President, Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Professor Dr. Mona Dakrouri, Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Samah Hafeez, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. The initiative focused on raising awareness about the dangers of addiction and ways to prevent and treat it.
This event is part of the ongoing efforts of the faculty to enhance public awareness of health and psychological issues that affect individuals and society as a whole. The event saw the participation of many students and faculty members who took part in valuable discussions on prevention methods for addiction and how to handle addicts, in addition to providing effective recovery strategies.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Professor Dr. Mona Dakrouri, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness among youth and addressing negative phenomena in society. This was followed by a speech from Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, who highlighted the role of universities in providing the necessary knowledge and expertise to the community in addressing issues such as addiction.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdy Nabeih, Deputy Director of Damira Psychiatric Hospital, then presented a scientific lecture discussing the psychological aspects of addiction and its impact on individuals and society. Dr. Ibrahim Abdel Ghaffar, a psychological specialist, also offered practical advice on ways to prevent addiction and the importance of psychological treatment in helping addicts recover and restore their normal lives.
The event included several interactive activities that helped attendees deepen their understanding of the dimensions of the addiction problem and how to effectively deal with it. The event was met with great appreciation from the attendees, who expressed their gratitude for the efforts made in organizing such important awareness initiatives
