In alignment with the government’s declared direction toward rationalizing public spending, Mansoura University, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, University President; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr. Yasmine Salah El-Din Fouad, Minister of Environment, initiated the organization of this training. The event was arranged by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, represented by the Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Security Administration (Dr. Abou El-Fetouh Hassan Abou El-Fetouh) and the General Service Center for Occupational Safety and Health (Prof. Dr. Dalia El-Sayed El-Etreby and her team including Mr. Ahmed Hamed Ibrahim El-Sayyad). Also involved were the Executive Administration of University Hospitals, represented by Prof. Dr. El-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and the Ophthalmology Center, represented by Prof. Dr. Walid Abou Samra, Director of the Center, and Prof. Dr. Amgad Mahmoud El-Noqrashi, Deputy Director — in cooperation with the Environmental Affairs Agency, represented by the Central Administration for the Northern Delta Region (Dr. Magid El-Sayed Mohamed, Head of the Central Administration, and Eng. Rehab El-Sayed El-Nouby, General Manager of the General Environmental Administration), and the Egyptian Red Crescent in Dakahlia, represented by Dr. Mohamed Farid Shehata, General Director, and Mr. Osama Fouad Ghobor, Director of the Youth and Volunteer Club.
The training course for the staff at the Oncology Center included topics on occupational safety and health, workplace security, civil protection, integrated management of hazardous waste and materials, and first aid. It was held over three days, from Tuesday, July 15 to Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The training activities began on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM in the conference hall named after Prof. Dr. Mohamed Emara. The opening session featured speeches by Prof. Dr. Amgad Mahmoud El-Noqrashi, Deputy Director of the Ophthalmology Center; Dr. Abou El-Fetouh Hassan Abou El-Fetouh, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department; Prof. Dr. Dalia El-Sayed El-Etreby from the General Service Center; and Eng. Dalia Nabil Suleiman, Director of Hazardous Waste and Material Management at the Northern Delta Region – Environmental Affairs Agency.
The first day of training saw the participation of approximately 200 staff members, including doctors, administrative staff, and nurses. The full-day session was titled:
"Occupational Safety and Health: From Concepts and Fundamentals to Safe Evacuation Scenarios", and was delivered by Dr. Abou El-Fetouh Hassan Abou El-Fetouh.
The second day of the course, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, began at 9:00 AM with a lecture titled:
"Laws and Regulations of Integrated Management of Hazardous Medical Waste", delivered by Eng. Dalia Nabil Suleiman.
This was followed by a second lecture:
"Preparation of Environmental Records in Healthcare Facilities", delivered by Eng. Walaa Abdullah Omran, Senior Environmental Researcher at the Hazardous Waste Management Department.
On the third and final day, Thursday, July 17, 2025, training began at 9:00 AM with a first aid lecture titled:
"Introduction and CPR – Breathing Issues, Heart Attacks, Strokes, Diabetes, Burns, and Wounds", delivered by Dr. Youssef Zein El-Zahy from the Egyptian Red Crescent in Dakahlia.
This was followed by another first aid lecture titled:
"Bone and Muscle Injuries, Splinting, Head and Spinal Injuries, Abdominal and Chest Injuries, and Patient Transport Positions", delivered by Dr. Mohamed Sabry Ibrahim, also from the Egyptian Red Crescent.
The day concluded with a final lecture:
"Municipal Waste and Solid Material Management", delivered by Prof. Dr. Dalia El-Sayed Ahmed El-Etreby, Director of the General Service Center for Occupational Safety and Health.
The Ophthalmology Center administration, represented by Prof. Dr. Amgad Mahmoud El-Noqrashi (on behalf of Prof. Dr. Walid Abou Samra), was keen to honor all participants who contributed to organizing and implementing the training activities.
A closing session was attended by Mr. Ahmed Ragaaei, Director of the Labor Directorate in Dakahlia, and Eng. Rehab El-Sayed El-Nouby, General Manager of the General Environmental Administration, on behalf of Dr. Magid El-Sayed Mohamed, who was unable to attend due to health reasons.
Also absent were Dr. Mohamed Farid Shehata and Mr. Osama Fouad Ghobor, who also sent apologies.
The training concluded with Prof. Dr. Amgad Mahmoud El-Noqrashi presenting honorary shields in recognition of outstanding contributions to:
