Mansoura University’s Community Service and Environmental Development Sector Marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence with an Awareness Seminar at Al-Firdous Distinguished Language School in Mansoura Sunday, November 9, 2025
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and under the supervision of Eng. Mohamed Taha El-Rashidi, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Dakahlia, the General Administration for Environmental Projects, led by Eng. Sherif Fawzy, General Director, organized an awareness seminar titled “Nonviolence… Our Path to Peace”.
The event was held in cooperation with the Dakahlia Directorate of Education, represented by the Activities and Services Department under the supervision of Dr. Hazem El-Alfi, General Director of Services, Dr. Gamila Massaad, Director of the Activities Department, and Mr. Abdel Ghani Ghazi, General Supervisor of Social Education.
The seminar took place at Al-Firdous Distinguished Language School in Mansoura, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Ahmed Yehia, General Director of the Western Educational Administration, Prof. Dr. Mostafa El-Bandary, Professor of Corporate Law at the Faculty of Law, Mansoura University, as well as several directors from the Directorate of Education. Ms. Marwa Hamed, the school principal, also attended the event.
The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Samah Khamis, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, who delivered an engaging and accessible talk on the concept of nonviolence and the importance of instilling values of tolerance and peace in children.
She emphasized the following key points:

Clarifying the importance of children’s rights and their various dimensions, especially in the fields of peace and nonviolence:
The seminar aimed to introduce children to their basic rights, such as the right to safety, education, respect, and living in a violence-free environment, while reinforcing the idea that peace begins within the individual and extends to society. -
Identifying challenges and achievements in the field of child rights and protection from violence:
The session reviewed the efforts made by the state and institutions to protect children from all forms of physical or psychological violence, highlighting the vital role of families and schools in spreading a culture of tolerance and understanding. -
Equipping students with basic principles of child protection and rights:
The seminar focused on teaching children how to express themselves peacefully, seek help when facing harm, and respect others while embracing diversity. -
Reviewing international agreements and practices to create safe environments for children:
Reference was made to international conventions, especially the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and how local laws and regulations ensure safe educational environments that promote dialogue and reject violence. -
Exploring practical measures to protect children from violence:
The discussion addressed practical measures such as raising awareness among teachers and parents, enhancing the role of psychological counseling in schools, and encouraging positive communication among students. -
Discussing issues facing childhood in Egypt, especially those related to peace and nonviolence:
The seminar examined key social challenges affecting children, such as bullying and domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between state institutions and civil society to raise a generation that believes in peace and mutual respect.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Dr. Ahmed Yehia expressed his gratitude to Mansoura University for its fruitful cooperation and to the General Administration for Environmental Projects for its efforts in promoting community awareness and fostering a culture of nonviolence and peace among children.
