Environmental Sustainability
Sustainable development is a socio-economic term, through which the United Nations has defined a map of environmental, social and economic development at the world level, aimed primarily at improving the living conditions of everyone in society and developing the means and methods of production and it’s management, to limit the depletion of the planet’s natural resources, Thus, we do not deprive future generations of their right to development and to exploit those resources. While the world faces the danger of environmental degradation, achieving the goals of sustainable development helps to face and overcome this environmental degradation while not abandoning the needs of economic development as well as equality and social justice.
One of the priorities of Mansoura University is to create a sustainable environment within the campus, by maintaining environmental standards on the one hand, and on the other hand, Mansoura University has green spaces that support sustainable environmental development, which the University seeks to maintain and develop continuously. In addition, at the academic level, the university is keen to encourage academic research in the field of environmental development, as well as looking to use best environmental practices, such as the implementation of recycling systems, systems to reduce carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption.
In this regard, Mansoura University has been keen to prepare its strategic plan for Sustainable Development, and develop the policies of this plan and its implementation mechanisms, which include achieving several objectives for sustainable environmental development at the level of the three sectors of the University: the student sector, the environment and community service sector, and the Graduate Studies sector.
