Workshop on “Risks, their assessment, how to deal with them, and securing the work environment,” March 26, 2024
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater - President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in cooperation with the General Administration of Strategic Management at Mansoura University, a workshop was held to spread the culture of risk-based thinking under the title:
(Risks, their assessment, how to deal with them, and securing the work environment)
In the presence of the colleges’ deputies for community service and environmental development affairs and members of the units and committees of the colleges’ crisis and disaster management and risk reduction teams, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim explained during his speech that in light of the rapid developments and continuous transformations, risk management has become a vital matter for universities, as the need to have effective strategies to address various types of risks is accelerating, and the increasing challenges require proactive thinking and serious strategic planning.
The workshop comes in light of Mansoura University’s keenness on the importance of adopting an integrated risk management policy, which ensures the preservation of the lives of its employees and its tangible and intangible assets, and contributes to strengthening the university’s position in the advanced knowledge society.
The workshop activities included the presentation of Dr. Azza Muhammad Al-Khamisi, Director General of Strategic Management at the University, presented and explained in detail the basic concepts in the field of crisis and disaster management and risk reduction, and trained participants on how to prepare a risk matrix, defining the types of risks and how to identify them, mechanisms for assessing different types of risks, and how to deal with those risks, and presenting For risk register forms.
The participants praised the successful organization of the workshop activities, which concluded with a set of recommendations, including considering reducing risks and disasters one of the university’s main priorities, as well as praising the university’s vision in preparing a guide for developing the crisis and disaster management system and reducing risks.
The workshop also concluded that it is planned for the community service and environmental development sector at the university to measure and follow up on the progress made in this regard, and to complete capacity building and training for human elements through advanced training workshops, and effective coordination with all concerned parties.
