Prof. Shaima Abdel Wahab; Assistant Professor at the College of Education...its first event for the academic year 2023/2024 at the College of Commerce...Monday, November 27, 2023...with a symposium entitled “Climate changes and their effects on international economic and political relations.”
The activities began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Mona Ibrahim Dakrouri; In it, she welcomed the college’s guests and attendees at the symposium, and stressed the College of Commerce’s keenness to spread the culture of sustainability among its employees... Then Prof. Dr. Samah Tariq Hafez addressed; Introducing the “Together...for Green Sustainability” initiative and its objectives... Then Prof. Dr. Doaa Samir Hazza explained; The initiative comes in light of the interest in spreading the concept of sustainability at the university and the goals of sustainable development... Speakers at the symposium were: Prof. Dr. Musaad Salama Mandour; Vice Dean of the College of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research; It dealt with the elements of climate and climate changes in terms of their definition, causes and effects on international relations, the relationship between climate and political and military relations, wars, climate, and the impact of climate on some international economic relations and international agreements on environment and climate... as well as shedding light on the green economy and its role in confronting climate change. .. Prof. Dr. Hisham Handal discussed: Head of the Economics Department at the College of Commerce... The impact of climate changes on the national economy in terms of the impact on natural and human components and the state budget, the impact of climate changes on the production potential curve and the impact on global economic growth... and the impact of climate changes on energy, labor productivity, food production and the impact on rivers And the impact on agricultural lands, railways, and airports... and the impact of climate changes on trade between European countries and the impact on Egypt... Then Prof. Dr. Samah Tariq Hafez concluded the symposium with Egypt’s efforts to adapt to climate change through the National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change 2050.. Then the floor was opened for questions and discussion. The symposium was attended by representatives of the faculty members, the supporting staff, and administrators at the College of Commerce, and students from various academic groups.
