Seminar on “How to apply for a dual doctoral degree between the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Western Ontario, Canada”
Today, Professor Dr. Sherif El-Badawi, Dean of Mansoura Engineering, hosted the distinguished scholar Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Damaty, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Western Ontario, Canada, and coordinator of the dual doctoral agreement between Mansoura Engineering and Western Engineering, with the participation of Professor Dr. Sahar Sedqy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Amira Yasin. The Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in the presence of the heads of scientific departments and specific programs, faculty members, supporting staff, and postgraduate students.
The symposium activities began, which took on the form and character of the scientific forum due to its importance, great interest, good organization, warm reception, and eagerness to benefit from the importance of the topic. Professor Dr. Sherif El-Badawi began by introducing Professor Dr. Ashraf El-Damaty, speaking about the date of the start of the agreement and then its activation. Then, Prof. Dr. El-Damaty spoke. By giving a general idea about Western University, His Excellency indicated that it is a Canadian public university founded in 1878 and is one of the oldest universities in Canada. It has 123 specializations, 12 colleges and 10 programs in the field of engineering. It is considered one of the best 15 universities in Canada and one of the best 100 universities in the world. Western University is distinguished by its quality of learning, scientific research, and academic reputation. It joins the list of the most distinguished research universities in Canada. The employment rate after graduation from the University of Western Ontario is 95.2%. The university has produced about 325,000 male and female graduates who are located in more than 150 countries in the world.
His Excellency also clarified a number of topics, as His Excellency referred to the scholarships, courses and awards offered by Western University, the advantages of studying there, and the opportunities to find work immediately after graduating from Western University.
Then Professor Dr. El-Badawi accompanied Prof. Dr. El-Damaty, the college deans, and a number of faculty members on a tour of a number of the college’s laboratories, where Prof. El-Damaty praised the readiness of the college’s laboratories and the status of Mansoura University, which he is proud of and the academic level of its students, especially those he supervised.
