Simulating the experience of safe evacuation and firefighting at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mansoura University

A simulation of a security evacuation experience and how to confront fires in one of the college buildings to train faculty members, students, and college employees on how to deal in the event of a fire and apply that in practice.

Dr. Manal Eid - Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Prof. Dr. Hani Ibrahim Qenawi - Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Khaled Bashir, Vice Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Yousra Al-Far, Director of the PharmD Program, and Dr. Merihan Moqled, Director of the Professional Master’s Program in Immunology and Regenerative Medicine.

A simulation of the process of extinguishing a fire was carried out after a call from the college administration that a fire had broken out in one of the laboratories. Students, faculty members, and workers were evacuated from the college buildings to safe assembly points. A simulation was conducted to rescue a student who suffered from suffocation from the smoke emanating from the fire. He was rescued by trained crews from the administration. Civil Protection and transferred him to the ambulance to receive treatment. The fire was fought by sending fire engines and ambulances, and the experiment was carried out successfully.
A. explained. Dr. Hani Ibrahim Qenawi said that the implementation was preceded by continuous training for faculty members, workers and students, on how to confront fires, follow instructions during fires, and ways to call for help or emergency teams.
The experiment aims to conduct a real simulation of fighting fires and evacuating individuals in emergency situations after training faculty members, employees, and students, within the framework of raising the degree of readiness of the college in the face of potential emergencies, by raising their awareness, and how to confront the situation calmly, and prevent stampedes. And preserve lives and educational facilities, according to the evacuation plan prepared in advance by the community service sector and the college.
