Introductory meeting on the “Unit to Combat Violence Against Women at the Faculty of Agriculture” within the activities of the Bidaya Initiative
The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Agriculture organized, as part of the activities of the (Bidaya Initiative), an introductory meeting about (Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture), on Monday 9/30/2024 at 11 am in the conference hall.
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater - President of Mansoura University and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
The meeting was held in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Shata - Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Saleh Saada - Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Metwally Abu Saree - Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Development and Environmental Service Affairs, Dr. Zahraa Mutawa - Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture, and the guest of the meeting Prof. Dr. Amina Shalaby - Rapporteur of the National Council for Women, Dakahlia Branch, and members of the unit at the faculty and university. Eng. Hala Ismail, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bint Al-Ard Association, and Prof. Dr. Dalia Al-Atrabi, member of the National Council for Women, and a number of council members and civil society organizations.
Prof. Dr. Metwally Abu Sarea stressed the importance of the college's role in establishing the foundations of a safe university community and a stable environment for the safety of female and male students and enhancing effective mechanisms to protect women from any potential manifestation of violence and identifying the protection tools provided by the unit through the unit's complaints reporting system. Prof. Dr. Saleh Saada appreciated the unit's role in dealing with female students' issues with privacy and effectiveness.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shata Ali also stressed the importance of activating the unit's role in raising awareness, receiving and processing complaints, and forming a nucleus for student support groups to confront any unacceptable behaviors towards women.
Prof. Dr. Amina Shalaby, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women, Dakahlia Branch, gave a speech about the role of the National Council for Women in confronting violence against women and improving the conditions of women in many aspects, and how university students benefit from the services provided by various competent authorities and the responsibility of students in promoting the ethical values of university and civil society.
Dr. Zahraa Mutawwa The main role of the unit in receiving reports and providing legal and psychological support to abused women, how to submit reports to the unit and its legal path, and how to volunteer in the unit team.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shata, Dean of the College, honored Prof. Dr. Amina Shalaby, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women, and the unit team.
