"Holding of Session No. (265) of the Community Service and Environmental Development Council at Mansoura University"
The Community Service and Environmental Development Council at Mansoura University convened today, Sunday, November 30, 2025, for its 265th session. The meeting was rich, dynamic, and marked by constructive engagement. It was chaired by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the attendance of the vice deans of the faculties, as well as external members: Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Nasreen Omar, Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Member of Parliament; Major General Hesham El-Hosary, Member of Parliament; and Mr. Hazem Nasr, Editor-in-Chief and Director of the Akhbar Al-Youm Office in Dakahlia.
The session began with a welcoming speech by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, in which he expressed his deep appreciation for the attendees, affirming that the strength of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector stems from the unity of all elements of the university system. He extended congratulations to the political leadership and the Egyptian people on the official opening of the new Egyptian Pharaonic Museum, describing the event as a pivotal step toward elevating Egypt’s civilizational identity on the global stage.
He also congratulated several university leaders who received recent appointment decrees, most notably: Prof. Noha Heikal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, on the presidential decree appointing her as Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Abeer Tawakkol, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program, on her appointment as Director of the University’s Electronic Testing Centers; and Prof. Mohamed El-Zohery, on being selected as Chair of the National Committee for Food Sciences. Additionally, he congratulated Major General Hesham El-Hosary, Dr. Nasreen Omar, and Dr. Marwa Hassan on their victory in the parliamentary elections.
The Council also expressed condolences on the passing of the esteemed Azhar scholar Prof. Omar Hashem, as well as Mr. Mahmoud Taha, a colleague in the Sector’s Technical Office, praying for mercy and forgiveness for both. Prof. Abdel Azim then thanked everyone for the achievements accomplished during the previous period, most notably Mansoura University securing first place in the competition for the “Most Environmentally Friendly University” and first place in literacy eradication among Egyptian universities—achievements that stand proudly in the university’s history.
The session included a comprehensive discussion of the sector’s activities and projects, as well as a review of faculty efforts in implementing community and service programs. The Council also reviewed ongoing construction projects across the university and its hospitals, which represent a significant leap in the quality of medical and educational services. Prof. Al-Shaarawy Kamal highlighted the pivotal role of the university hospitals in serving the community and continuously strengthening the governorate’s healthcare system.
In an insightful contribution, Prof. Nasreen Omar outlined the unprecedented achievements witnessed in the medical sector at Mansoura University, praising the remarkable developments realized in recent years and describing Prof. Abdel Azim as possessing “a distinguished administrative vision and the ability to lead the system toward tangible results.”
Major General Hesham El-Hosary expressed his pride in belonging to this esteemed council, commending the notable excellence within the Community Service Sector and the initiatives that directly support citizens and reinforce the university’s societal role. In his remarks, Mr. Hazem Nasr emphasized that the sector’s achievements have become a model to follow, praising Prof. Abdel Azim’s efforts in enhancing work systems and implementing ambitious future visions.
This was followed by open discussions, inquiries, and the formal ratification of the minutes of the previous Session No. 263, held on October 5, 2025, and approved by the University President on November 3, 2025. The Council then reviewed the agenda items, discussed them thoroughly, and adopted the necessary decisions and recommendations to ensure continued development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim delivered a message of appreciation to all attendees, affirming that teamwork and integrated efforts are the key to achieving the university’s goals and reinforcing its mission in serving the community and supporting sustainable development plans. He called for continued work under a comprehensive vision that enhances Mansoura University’s role as a leading house of expertise regionally and internationally, with a clear outlook for a brighter future for the university.
