Symposium entitled Renouncing Violence and Reconciliation with the other: Call of Heavenly Religions in Mansoura University

As a part of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, regarding combating abnormal concepts and ideas and confronting extremist ideology and terrorism in Egypt. And for the sake of Mansoura University to increase the awareness of university youth and improve their ideas, and within the framework of the strategic plan activities of the Counter Terrorism and Extremism Committee. Today, Sunday, April 10, 2022, the Committee for Combating Terrorism and Extremism of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a cultural symposium entitled "Renouncing violence and reconciliation with the other - Call of Heavenly Religions ". In cooperation with the Faculty of Arts and under the auspices of Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset - President of the University, Prof. Mahmoud El Meligy - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Sherif Khater - Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chairman of the Committee Combating Terrorism and Extremism and Prof. Mahmoud Al-jaidi - Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

During the symposium, the strategic importance of confronting violence and extremism in all its forms and the negative impact of these offensive phenomena on the unity of society were discussed. It was also clarified that all heavenly religions reject violence and encourage tolerance and reconciliation, and criminalize abuse in all its forms. Where some texts contained in the Torah and the Gospel that encourage acceptance and respect of the other and abhor violence were presented. The tolerant Islamic Sharia was also addressed, which came to spread the spirit of tolerance and respect for the people of other religions, as were some dealings in the Prophet's Holy Sunnah, encourage tolerance, reject violence and respect other religions.

Students were also urged not to give in to the misconceptions and opinions that are behind the emergence of violence in all its forms, and it was emphasized that all modern wars are a war of thought and knowledge whose goal is to split society and the emergence of strife among all its sects.
