The Establishment of the First Medical Response Unit in Mansoura University to Provide Integrated Health Services to Coerced Women

Service and Environmental Development Affairs, signed a cooperation protocol with the National Council for Women represented by Dr. Maya Morsi , Head of the Council to establish a medical response unit to provide integrated health services to coerced women in the presence of Prof. Nesreen Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Farha El-Shenawi, Secretary of the Dakahlia National Council for Women, Prof. Amina Shalabi, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, representatives from the National Council for Women, the United Nations Populations Fund, Dr. Amal Philip, the Social and Health Advisor of the Anti-Violence Unit against Women, and Dr. Mona El-ghazali, the Coordinator of the Anti-Violence Uni. Prof. El-Meligi stressed the fact that signing the protocol comes within the framework of the University’s concern with the issue of violence against women. The University’s Units in general and the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital in particular include supporting specialties for women and girls exposed to violence; for example, (psychological violence and physical violence).
Prof. Nesreen Omar pointed out that this unit is the first of its kind in the Egyptian Universities which will provide integrated health services for coerced women including medical and psychological support in collaboration with the National Council for Women.
