Activities of the Climate Change and Carbon Footprint Symposium at the Faculty of Education, Saturday, February 17, 2024
The Community Awareness Committee of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at Mansoura University was organized under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater - President of the University and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
An awareness seminar entitled “Climate Change and Carbon Footprint”; This is within the framework of the “Our Health is from the Health of Our Planet” initiative, in cooperation with the National Council for Women, Dakahlia Branch, headed by Prof. Dr. Amina Shalabi, and in cooperation with the College of Education under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ali Abd Rabbo - Dean of the College and Prof. Dr. Abdullah Abu Shabana - Vice Dean of the College For community service and environmental development affairs, today, Saturday, February 17, attended by Prof. Dr. Sahar Abdel Aziz Al-Dakrouri - Chairman of the Community Awareness Committee and member of the National Council for Women in Dakahlia, and Dr. Yasser El-Gamal - Head of the Media and Training Sector at the Environmental Affairs Agency, East Delta Sector, and in the presence of committee members; Colonel Ismail Moawad - Decent Life Foundation in Dakahlia, Prof. Dr. Iman Khashaba - Professor of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Samah Khamis - Committee Coordinator and Member of the National Council for Women, Dakahlia Branch, Dr. Amal Younis - Director of the Program Planning and Project Implementation Department in the Public Administration For environmental projects at Mansoura University, and members of the National Council for Women, Dakahlia Branch, Professor Suhair Ezz Al-Arab, Prof. Dr. Amani Ghabbour, Prof. Salwa Zaid, Professor Ahmed Raslan, faculty members of the College of Education, and male and female students of the College.
The symposium opened with welcoming speeches from the Dean of the College and the Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development. Then Prof. Dr. Sahar Al-Dakrouri spoke about the various environmental pollutants in the air, water and food and their relationship to climate change, loss of nature and biodiversity and their harmful effects on the environment, health and plastic products, which are among the largest pollutants. Water and the need to encourage recycling and avoid plastic products that are harmful to human health and the carbon footprint, which we must all help to reduce the industrial and environmental emissions that increase them.
Dr. Yasser Al-Gamal spoke about the state’s efforts to confront climate change, such as providing green bonds, establishing smart green cities, smart green projects, criteria for applying for them, transitioning to the green economy and circular economy, investing in renewable energy sources such as solar energy, and establishing stations to exploit them such as the Benban station, wind energy, and means of transportation that operate. With electricity, such as the electric train, a questionnaire was distributed to male and female students about the symposium, and the floor was opened for discussion at the end of the symposium.
