Mansoura University opens new horizons for international cooperation as the first Egyptian university to discuss ways of cooperation with the Finnish Federation for International Education
Today, Monday, June 10, 2024, Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received Professor Risto Mikko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Finnish Federation for International Education, and Professor Dr. Karim El-Safty, Regional Executive Director for the Middle East Region, within the framework of Mansoura University’s plan to enhance its international standing and expand its horizons. International academic cooperation by establishing strategic scientific, research and cultural partnerships with educational institutions and universities with a distinguished reputation around the world.
The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Muhammad Attia Al-Bayoumi - Vice President of the University for Education and Students, Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdel Azim - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Professor Dr. Tariq Ghaloush - Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Professor Dr. Sherif Badawi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Magdy Zakaria, Dean of the College of Computers and Information, Professor Dr. Mohamed Ghoneim, “former” Dean of the College of Arts, Dr. Mohamed Al-Rifai, Director of the International Relations Office, Dr. Ahmed Hussein, Deputy Director of the International Relations Office.
During the meeting, ways of cooperation between Mansoura University and the Regional Union of Finnish Universities were discussed in the fields of engineering, artificial intelligence, information technology, management systems, the exchange of professors and students, as well as the establishment of joint educational programs and degrees, and the exchange of scientific research of interest to both sides.
Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater welcomed the future cooperation between Mansoura University and the Regional Union of Finnish Universities, stressing that the meeting comes within the framework of implementing the directives of the political leadership to expand partnerships with universities and educational institutions with a distinguished international reputation, and in accordance with the national strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education to benefit from International expertise in developing Egyptian education, and maximizing use of available capabilities.
Sherif Khater explained that Mansoura University is taking steady steps towards achieving excellence and leadership, as it is the first Egyptian government university accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation, in addition to accrediting 10 accredited colleges and 26 accredited distinguished qualitative programs, and the university obtaining first place in transformation. Digital, and its ownership of “Intilaaq” Company, which is the first specialized company for communications and information technology in Egyptian universities. It also has many programs for governance systems and various electronic systems, which qualifies it to activate joint cooperation methods in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence.
During the meeting, Professor Risto Mikko expressed his welcome for strengthening bilateral relations between the Union of Finnish Universities and Mansoura University, stressing that his visit to Mansoura University is the first visit of the Union to the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the aim of implementing a scientific partnership with an Egyptian university, as Mansoura University was chosen due to its reputation. It is a prestigious international university, and it is an ancient university that reflects Egyptian civilization and heritage and is characterized by multi-disciplinarity, which opens up different areas of cooperation in education and scientific research.
He explained that international education depends on the study being linked to the graduate’s aspirations for the labor market, which is the approach of educational institutions around the world to provide distinguished job opportunities.
He added that the future will witness great development in the field of education using artificial intelligence techniques, praising the advanced technological capabilities that Mansoura University possesses and a company specialized in information technology that qualifies it for future cooperation in developing education, areas of scientific research, and information security systems.
After the meeting, the delegation made an inspection tour of the Colleges of Engineering and Computers and Information Colleges to inspect the academic and research programs and laboratories.
