Literacy and Adult Education Center Board of Directors Meeting, Tuesday, September 17, 2024

On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Literacy and Adult Education Center met, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and attended by the Board of Directors members and Dr. Asmaa El-Hadi, Director of the Center.

At the beginning, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim thanked and appreciated all the work teams for their great efforts and the distinguished work accomplished during the past period, which contributed to Mansoura University winning the UNESCO "Confucius" Prize for Literacy, a prestigious international award that reflects the university's commitment to the cause of education and literacy.

📝 The most important topics discussed during the meeting:

1️⃣ Ratification of the minutes of the previous session No. (4) held on December 4, 2023, where the minutes were approved without any amendments.

2️⃣ Presentation of the memoranda submitted by Dr. Asmaa El-Hadi, Director of the Center, which addressed the developments in the center's work, the most prominent future projects, and the challenges facing literacy programs.

3️⃣ Briefing the Board of Directors on the approval of the financial and administrative regulations of the center by the Ministry of Finance, which is considered an important step to ensure the administrative and financial stability of the center.

4️⃣ Discussing the start of procedures for activating the Mansoura University project to eradicate illiteracy in Dakahlia Governorate under the slogan "A Governorate without Illiteracy", within the framework of national efforts to achieve an illiteracy-free society.

5️⃣ Proposing holding a conference for the Mansoura University Center for Adult Education, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of continuing education and the university's pioneering role in eradicating illiteracy.

6️⃣ Discussing the digitization of some literacy curricula, with the aim of providing e-learning for students and facilitating their access to educational materials via the Internet.

In conclusion, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim thanked all members for their effective contributions, and it was agreed to follow up on the implementation of the decisions taken in the next meeting.
