A Seminar to Enhance Community Awareness and Citizenship Values Among Youth at the Faculty of Nursing, Mansoura University

As part of the ongoing efforts to promote citizenship values and social awareness among youth, the Faculty of Nursing at Mansoura University organized a distinguished seminar in collaboration with the State Information Service and in partnership with the Leaders Foundation. The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sherif Khater, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Seminar Leadership and Key Participants

The seminar was led by Professor Dr. Abeer Zakaria, Acting Dean of the Faculty and Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, along with Professor Dr. Fatma El-Imam, Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and Director of the Technical Nursing Institute. It was attended by Ms. Nahla Diab, Director of the Nile Media Center at the State Information Service, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Ghaida, Secretary-General of the Leaders Foundation. The event was supervised by Dr. Widad Saber and Dr. Sally Mohamed.

Objectives and Key Topics

Professor Dr. Abeer Zakaria emphasized that the seminar aimed to instill a strong sense of loyalty and belonging among youth, fostering a well-balanced Egyptian citizen with a deep understanding of societal responsibilities. She highlighted the importance of nurturing patriotism, preserving national identity, adhering to rights and duties, combating misinformation, and strengthening national unity.

Professor Dr. Fatma El-Imam pointed out that Egypt has become a global focal point, necessitating the solidarity of all social groups to ensure security and stability. She also praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s strategic leadership in managing Middle Eastern conflicts and stressed the importance of preparing a generation capable of responsibly utilizing knowledge and technology.

Role of the State Information Service and Leaders Foundation

Ms. Nahla Diab shed light on the vital role played by the State Information Service in launching a national media campaign—initiated by Dr. Diaa Rashwan and Dr. Ahmed Yahia—to reinforce national pride, highlight Egypt’s achievements, and encourage youth participation in societal development. She also underscored the significance of countering misinformation, restoring trust in state institutions, and recognizing Egyptian media as a reliable source of truth against distortion campaigns.

Citizenship and Belonging: A Right and a Duty

In his address, Professor Dr. Mohamed Ghaida emphasized that patriotism is not just a word but a profound sense of solidarity and unity within society. He asserted that citizenship is both a right and a duty that every individual must uphold for their nation. He also praised the Egyptian Armed Forces as the shield of the Arab world, successfully thwarting displacement schemes and resisting external ambitions. He urged young people to equip themselves with knowledge, challenge misinformation with awareness, and rally behind state institutions.
