Mansoura University Continues Its Efforts to Raise Awareness About the New COVID-19 Variant
As part of its community outreach and awareness efforts, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Mansoura University, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater – University President, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim – Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, organized an initiative titled "Awareness and Prevention of the New COVID-19 Variant."
The initiative, held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Faculty of Commerce, was conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and the Directorate of Health and Population, targeting students and staff from the Faculties of Commerce, Science, and Computer and Information Sciences.

The event was attended by:
- Prof. Dr. Samah Hafez – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Commerce for Community Service and Environmental Development
- Dr. Mohamed Gamal – Lecturer in Pulmonology, Faculty of Medicine
- Dr. Mostafa Amin – Director General of the General Administration of Environmental Projects
A total of 123 participants attended the initiative, including 82 female and 40 male students and staff from the targeted faculties.
Event Highlights
The event began with an opening speech by Dr. Mostafa Amin, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the significance of such initiatives in raising awareness about the health risks posed by the new COVID-19 variant. This was followed by a speech from Prof. Dr. Samah Hafez, who stressed the importance of educating students and staff on preventive measures.
Dr. Mohamed Gamal then delivered an awareness lecture covering:

✔️ Symptoms of infection
✔️ Prevention strategies
✔️ The importance of wearing masks and adhering to preventive measures to limit the spread of infection
Expanding the Awareness Initiative
The university has divided its faculties into six awareness stations, of which four have already been completed. The remaining two stations will be conducted in the coming weeks as part of the university's comprehensive awareness plan.
