Under the esteemed patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and under the supervision and guidance of Professor Dr. Mohamed Al-Oqbi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media, and General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, alongside Professor Dr. Mohamed Atiya, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development,
The Social Solidarity Unit at Mansoura University, in collaboration with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, launched an event on March 9, 2025, as part of the International Women's Day celebrations, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness on women's issues. The event featured the "Cinema Club" initiative and an interactive discussion session with students, focusing on gender-based violence, particularly online blackmail.
The session included a screening of selected scenes from the renowned TV series "Fi Sa'ato Wa Tareekho" (At Its Time and Date) and "Li A'la Nisbat Mushahada" (For the Highest Viewership), addressing social issues relevant to Egyptian women.
Dr. Mayada El-Sayed Hamed, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, gender and reproductive health trainer, and founder of the "Digital Fingerprint" initiative, led an in-depth analysis of the messages conveyed by the drama series. She engaged students in discussions about their impact on shaping societal awareness regarding women's issues.
During the discussion, interactive training tools were used to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the key concepts, correcting misconceptions that may perpetuate discrimination or contribute to ongoing violence against women. The session also provided a platform for exchanging different perspectives on possible solutions to these challenges and highlighted the role individuals can play in addressing them. Additionally, it shed light on mechanisms for reporting cybercrimes, especially online blackmail.
This initiative reflects the commitment of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector and the Social Solidarity Unit at Mansoura University to organizing a series of events and activities aimed at enhancing societal awareness of women's rights, combating all forms of violence and discrimination, and encouraging students to engage in meaningful discussions on pressing social issues. The event also reinforces the values of equality, respect, and justice, fostering a more conscious and fair society
