The Third Day of Activities of “She Leads” Forum Mansoura University
Continuing the activities of "She Leads" forum; the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized for the third day in a row a presentation of the "Nabta" cultural initiative in a session entitled "Women Leaders of cultural initiatives", where the goal of the initiative was clarified, which is to revive Egyptian culture in a new, innovative and also digital way, in line with the digital transformation that the Egyptian administration is currently working on, in addition to spreading culture and cultural interaction in response to the isolation and physical distance caused by Covid-19,
The Initiative founders discussed what they do including presenting topics related to literature, arts and creative writing through zoom platform periodically.
Among the speakers were Prof. Abeer Al-Gamal, Professor of English Literature and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Education at Mansoura University, Dr. Heba Wadah, English Literature Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Education, Mansoura University, Mrs. Hana Nabil, poetess and researcher in English Literature, moderated the discussion Dr. Heba Maher - Lecturer of Ancient Egyptian Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts and Coordinator of the Forum.
It was then followed by a panel discussion entitled "Women Novelists Interviewed by Men", moderated by Sharif Mandur, interviewer and radio broadcaster, during which he addressed the concept of leadership in the works presented by women writers and the discussion revolved around the image of women in their literary works, where Dr. Nermeen Gomaa, a novelist, assistant professor of English literature and head of the English Department at Delta University, spoke about her novel "Nothing Left Of Me" and how the social roles imposed on women sometimes force her forget about being a woman, also Mrs. Doha Assi, novelist and member of the Egyptian Parliament, spoke about her novel “104 Cairo” and the idea of the other space where the characters of the novel, especially the female characters, escape from their worlds to other worlds that are completely far from reality and express their desire to change this reality and start a new life that better reflects their selves, ambitions and dreams, as well Ms. Aya Allam, a researcher in historical novels, referred to her novel "Rann", which expresses the wrong cultural heritage that causes many problems and social pressures that contribute greatly to the oppression of women.
The activites concluded with honoring the attendees from Prof. Tarek Ghalloush, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Prof. Samah Tarek Hafez, vice dean of the Faculty of Commerce for Community Service Affairs, Dr. Heba Maher, Forum Coordinator, and Dr. Samah Al Said, Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at Mansoura University, and it is worth mentioning that the closing ceremony of the forum is scheduled to be organized on Saturday morning, April 3, at the Grand Conference Hall of the General Administration Building of Mansoura University.
