A Symposium entitled Digital Media Education to immunize against Malicious Media Content in Mansoura University
As a part of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of the Republic, regarding combating abnormal concepts and ideas and confronting extremist ideology and terrorism in Egypt. And for the sake of Mansoura University to increase the awareness of university youth and improve their ideas, and within the framework of the strategic plan activities of the Counter Terrorism and Extremism Committee. Today, Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Committee for Combating Terrorism and Extremism of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a cultural symposium entitled "Digital Media Education to immunize against Malicious Media Content ". In cooperation with the Faculty of Arts and under the auspices of Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset - President of the University, Prof. Mahmoud El Meligy - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Sherif Khater - Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chairman of the Committee Combating Terrorism and Extremism and Prof. Mahmoud Al-jaidi - Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
During the symposium, the concept of media education was discussed and its important role in ensuring whether the news is true or not was clarified. The need for digital media education in our society was also addressed and know the extent of its importance to preserve the capabilities of the country and not to obey behind the misinformation and news in order to preserve the unity of the community. The symposium also touched on the need for parents to be interested in positive participation in digital media education and how to confront media misinformation and dissemination of false information circulated through social networking sites, stressing the need to develop the ability to think as one of the tools for the ability to differentiate between true and false news.
