The Opening of the First sports Arena for People with Special Needs at Mansoura University

On the sidelines of Mansoura University's golden jubilee celebrations, in light of the university’s interest in the health of its members, and out of its belief in the importance of practicing sports activities, and in support of the State's approach in caring for persons with special needs. Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset - President of Mansoura University, accompanied by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meligy - Vice President for Community Service Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Attia - Vice President for Education and Student Affairs and Prof. Amr Saad - Director of the Egyptian-German Project for the Development of Disabled Sports and Coordinator of the German Cultural Exchange Authority (DAAD) at the Institute of Sports Sciences at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, on Wednesday, April 27, inaugurated the first sports arena for people with special needs at Mansoura University. And in the presence of a group of faculties’ deans and vice deans, Mr. / Secretary-General of the University and Assistant Secretaries of the University.

The square is located near the entrance of the Olympic Village and includes a number of sports equipment and instruments with support from the German Cultural Exchange Authority (DAAD) and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, as well as benches made of wood that were manufactured in the workshops of the Faculty of Agriculture. Where the community service and environmental development sector supervised all stages of its establishment, design and follow-up by the engineering office for the community service and environmental development sector. In addition to the participation of the Faculty of Agriculture workshops, the Engineering Administration in the Olympic Village, the Landscape and Campus Administration, and all the workers in the Olympic Village in the Olympic Village in finishing the work related to the preparation of the arena

It is worth mentioning that a sports arena for people with special needs has been established with the aim of making sports available to all members of the university who have special needs free of charge and to encourage them to practice it. In cooperation with the German Cultural Exchange Authority (DAAD) and the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg through the Egyptian-German project for the development of disabled sports in the Republic of Egypt.

In this regard, Prof. Ashraf Abdel Basset pointed to the university's interest in all its members, especially those with special needs, and worked to prepare all the University's facilities to ensure their access to all the services provided by the University. He also thanked all those in charge of the establishment of the arena.

For his part, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Meligy expressed his thanks and gratitude to all those who participated in the establishment of this great edifice in all its stages. He thanked Prof. Oliver Stoll, Dean of the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Martin Luther and Head of the DAAD project for the development of disabled sports, Dr. Ahmed Tharwat - Director of the Faculty of Agriculture Workshop, Dr. Haitham Al-Badawihi - Director of the Olympic Village, Eng. Eman Farouk - Head of the Engineering Office in the Community Service Sector, and all the workers in the Olympic Village.
