Mansoura University Faculty of Medicine's Campaign to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

 

The Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University, in cooperation with the Environmental Projects General Administration in the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, organized under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meligy - Acting President of Mansoura University, today, Thursday, October 27, 2022, the activities of the Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection Campaign at the Nile Club.

And in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Shoma - Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Ghada Al-Qunaishy - Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mostafa Amin - Director General of the Environmental Projects General Administration, Prof. Nisreen Omar - Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Member of Parliament, Prof. Nariman Al-Nashar - Former Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Nihad Fouda - Head of the Diagnostic Radiology Department, Prof. Maha Bilal, Director of Internship Training, and A number of 178 faculty members, employees and university students, with the participation of the Al-Mahrousa students team to the sector.

At the beginning Dr. Mustafa Amin conveyed the greetings of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meligy - Acting President of Mansoura University, to the attendees and organizers Then, Prof. Ashraf Shoma, Professor of General Surgery and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, spoke about breast cancer and its incidence among women, and how to detect it early, pointing to the importance of breast self-examination for women, especially after the age of 40, and those who have risk factors.

Prof. Siza Samir, Director of the Women's Imaging Unit, reviewed the modernization of the unit with advanced devices for diagnosing breast cancer through a lecture entitled "Women's Medical Imaging Unit at Mansoura University Hospital...a dream come true", as delivered by Dr. Mona Zaki - Assistant Professor Diagnostic radiology, gave a lecture entitled "Early detection is a lifeline", followed by a lecture by Prof. Dalia Bayoumi, assistant professor of radiology, on "risk factors and symptoms of breast cancer", Dr. Iman Al-Naghi, Teacher of Radiology, spoke about "Diagnostic Breast Sample", while Dr. Ghada Hassan corrected "False and Common Beliefs about Breast Cancer", and Dr. Dina Al-Metwally, Teacher of Radiology and Awareness concluded with her lecture on "Methods of Breast Cancer Detection".

Doctor / Taha Al-Awadly, the campaign coordinator from the Internship Doctors, spoke about the activities of the Internship Doctors during the campaign, where 53 women were examined and 14 were transferred to complete the examinations in the hospital.

The Internship Doctors who participated in the awareness campaign throughout the month of October were honored. From Dr. Ashraf Shoma - Dean of the College, and thanks were also extended to Dr. Mahmoud Abul-Magd - Director of the Nile Club, Al-Mahrousa Student Team and the General Administration of Environmental Projects for the great effort in preparing and coordinating the events.
