The “Together... for Green Sustainability” initiative was held, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Samah Tariq Hafez - Vice Dean of the College of Commerce for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Prof. Dr. Doaa Samir Hazza - Vice Dean of the College of Tourism and Hotels for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Shaima Abdel Wahab - Assistant Professor at the College of Education... its third event for the academic year 2023/2024 at the College of Arts... Monday, December 4, 2023... with a symposium entitled “The Role of the University in... Achieving social sustainability.”
The activities began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Suhair Muhammad Waheed; In which she welcomed the college’s guests and attendees at the symposium, she emphasized the college’s keenness to spread the culture of sustainability among its employees... Then Prof. Dr. Samah Tariq Hafez addressed; Introducing the “Together...for Green Sustainability” initiative and its objectives, and the keenness of the community service and environmental development sector at the university to spread the culture of sustainability at the university and the goals of sustainable development... Speakers at the symposium were: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ghoneim - Professor of Sociology and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts; He discussed the social responsibility of the university and the presidential initiative for a decent life, developing the most needy villages, providing social and health services, and improving living conditions. He pointed to the participation of universities in the initiative to provide medical and veterinary awareness services and raise community awareness... Then Prof. Dr. Dina Abu Al-Ela discussed; Head of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts.. Defining sustainability, introducing Egypt’s 2030 vision, the green economy, green industries, the Our Beautiful Ethics initiative, and the axes of the Egypt 2030 sustainable development strategy; The economic dimension, the environmental dimension, the social dimension, as well as the energy and technology dimension... She also addressed the quality of the educational system in line with international systems and indicated that Egypt’s 2030 vision for education includes 7 main axes; Such as integration, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, entrepreneurship and innovation... Then the door was opened for questions and discussion.
