The Faculty of Agriculture held a symposium entitled (Sustainable Development through Egypt’s Vision 2030) within the activities of the Together - for Green Sustainability initiative, on Thursday, 12/7/2023, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Samah Tariq Hafez - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Commerce for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. And Prof. Dr. Doaa Samir Hazza - Vice Dean of the College of Tourism and Hotels for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Shaima Abdel Wahab - Assistant Professor at the College of Education.
The activities began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Metwally Abu Sari’, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in which he welcomed the college’s guests and the attendees at the symposium, and spoke about the importance of sustainable development and the necessity of educating students about such topics, and that the Egyptian state has great achievements in various fields in order to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2023 and its goals. sustainable development.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shata, Dean of the College of Agriculture, began the talk by welcoming the distinguished guests and thanking the College’s Student Union for organizing the symposium, and talking about what the university seeks to develop and a clear and purposeful vision in order to achieve sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2023 and the College of Agriculture’s keenness to spread the culture of sustainability among its employees. .
Dr. Shaima Abdel Wahab expressed her happiness at being present in the College of Agriculture and thanked those in charge of the organization. She then addressed the introduction of the “Together for Green Sustainability” initiative and its goals, and the definition of sustainability, the importance of sustainable development, and the pivotal role of agricultural sciences in achieving the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah Zuhri, Vice Dean of the College of Tourism and Hotels for Education and Students, also spoke about sustainable development, which set a set of development goals to be achieved until the year 2030. Among the most important of these goals around which sustainable development revolves are food security, energy, health, education, Raising economic growth rates, preserving the environment, eliminating poverty and hunger, and clarifying Egypt’s Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development goals. Based on that vision, the Egyptian state developed its strategy to implement projects and initiatives within this framework and monitor the results to achieve the desired benefit.
His Excellency continued the talk about leadership and the role assigned to the leader, and gave the students a set of advice about paying attention to education and self-development by making sure to acquire new and diverse skills with good planning and organization of time in addition to continuous work, and that self-development is a journey worth the effort as it contributes greatly to change for the better in more than one year.
