Report on a workshop entitled: “Using Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research”
An online workshop was held entitled “Using Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research” under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Badawi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and coordinated, supervised and attended by Prof. Dr. Amira Yassin Heikal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and Supervisor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Control Systems. Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul, Director of the Scientific Research Support Unit, and a lecture by AS. Hadeer Al-Hilali, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Damietta University, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at seven in the evening.
The workshop targeted faculty members, supporting staff members, and graduate students, with the number of attendees reaching about one hundred participants.
The workshop addressed the importance of artificial intelligence for researchers and the extent of its impact on scientific publishing and the quality of research submitted. The most important points addressed by the workshop were as follows:
• Definition of artificial intelligence and its importance.
• The most important AI search engines used and how to use them.
• How to use engines to collect scientific material.
- How to reduce the quote.
- Writing references.
• Ethics of using artificial intelligence engines.
• Pros and cons of using artificial intelligence (pros & cons).
Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul expressed that the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities issued a special publication specifying the controls for the use of artificial intelligence in the scientific research process.
The meeting witnessed interaction from the attendees, and expression of opinion on the importance of the workshop topic for scientific research.
In the end, Mr. Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahloul thanked M.M. Hadeer Hilali and all the participants.
