Mansoura University President receives the evaluation committee for the best environmentally friendly university at the Supreme Council of Universities
Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, received the members of the selection committee for the best environmentally friendly university affiliated to the Supreme Council of Universities, which was headed by Dr. Amani Shaker, Vice President of Kafr El-Sheikh University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the membership of Prof. Dr. Tarek Attia, Professor of Construction Engineering and Project Management at the National Housing Research Center, Ambassador Mustafa El-Sherbiny, International Expert in Sustainability and Climate Risk Assessment and Observer of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the United Nations, Prof. Dr. Ihab Farouk, Energy Authority, Environmental Affairs Agency.
In the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia El-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Students, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater confirmed and explained that the university has been keen, through its strategic plan, to be one of the green and environmentally friendly universities, according to the 7 main criteria and the university's interest in the environment and sustainability within the framework of its strategy to transform into fourth-generation universities. Pointing out the pioneering role played by the university to become a sustainable, environmentally friendly university, stressing that the university always seeks excellence in all academic and research aspects in addition to its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

He also reviewed the efforts made by Mansoura University in the field of rationalizing energy, water use and preserving the environment, and its commitment to applying the best international practices in this field. He also referred to the environmental research, projects and initiatives implemented and participated in by the university in recent years, which aim to reduce carbon emissions and raise awareness of climate issues among students and faculty members.

Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim gave an introductory presentation about the university and its efforts to preserve the environment, achieve sustainable development and develop its strategies through research and education processes and apply sustainability in its organizations and community service, in addition to the infrastructure it enjoys.
He pointed out that the university includes 106 centers and units with a special character and they are currently being converted into companies to achieve economic management. The committee members presented the university's efforts in meeting 7 main criteria: infrastructure and risk management, energy and climate change, waste management, water management, transportation within the university, educational systems "learning, scientific research and sustainability", and the university and society. The committee for selecting the best environmentally friendly university conducted an inspection tour of the university campus and a number of colleges, units, centers and university hospitals to inspect what has been accomplished in this regard. This visit comes within the framework of the competition for the title of the best environmentally friendly university, an award that Mansoura University previously won in 2023 and aims to encourage Egyptian universities to adopt policies and practices that support sustainability and environmental protection.
