“Your Safety Matters to Us” Initiative Activities: The presidential initiative to spread the culture of occupational safety and health at Mansoura University and in Dakahlia companies and factories.

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Manal Eid, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Hani Qanawi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Counselor Ahmed Ragai, Director of the Labor Directorate in Dakahlia Governorate; Mansoura University, represented by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector "Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Insurance Department" and the Faculty of Pharmacy, participated in the Ministry of Labor, represented by the Central Administration for Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Insurance at the Ministry "General Administration for Work Environment Insurance" and the Labor Directorate in Dakahlia Governorate "Occupational Safety and Health and Work Insurance Department" in the conference hall at the Faculty of Pharmacy on Monday, 09/09/2024 AD, in the activities of the initiative of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi (Beginning: A New Beginning for Building the Human Being) through the activities of the "Your Safety Matters to Us" initiative: The presidential initiative to spread the culture of occupational safety and health at Mansoura University and in Dakahlia companies and factories. In implementation of the directives of Mr. Mohamed Gebran, Minister of Labor, to focus on spreading the culture of occupational safety and health and securing the work environment within all establishments in various work sectors to protect workers and establishments from the risks of various work environments and provide a safe work environment that increases productivity and achieves gains for both parties; the initiative’s activities were attended by the officials of occupational safety and health at the university’s colleges, hospitals, medical centers, units and various departments; A distinguished team from the Ministry of Labor and the Labor Directorate in Dakahlia Governorate also attended, in addition to the participation of representatives of more than 40 companies and more than 150 company owners and workers in companies and factories from various activities and sectors and contractors and irregular workers in Dakahlia. The initiative activities began with the national anthem and a blessed recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran in a sweet voice by the chemist/ Magdy Zaghloul - from the workers in the Occupational Safety and Health Department in the governorate, followed by an opening and welcoming speech from Mr. Professor Dr./ Hani Qanawi - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and a welcoming speech from Ms. Professor Dr./ Manal Eid - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and a speech by Counselor/ Ahmed Mohamed Ragai - Ministry of Manpower, where he spoke about the role played by the "Your Safety Matters" initiative in spreading awareness and educating workers in the field of occupational safety and health for all establishments from various activities at the governorate level and the role played by the initiatives in preventing accidents and injuries and increasing production. This was followed by the first lecture in the initiative’s activities entitled “Contents of the Occupational Safety and Health File” - delivered by Dr. Abu Al-Fotouh Hassan Abu Al-Fotouh - Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department and Deputy Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Center and Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Security at the University; in which he discussed the importance of the Occupational Safety and Health file and work environment security as a documentary or documentary way to secure the work environment for both the employees of the facility, business owners and those in charge of its management, the supervisory authorities and the neighbors of the facility. He then explained how to save paper and electronically and determine who keeps the original and who keeps a certified copy. He then explained the first of these documents and papers, which is the Civil Protection Department’s report, and that it includes a general description of the facility, statistics of its members and visitors, and the fire extinguishers it has and the extent to which they are compatible with its area and loads. He then concluded with a report on whether or not they are fulfilled. He spoke about the decision to form the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and its security in its introduction and body and what it should contain. He then listed the rest of the contents of the Occupational Safety and Health and Work Environment Security file in general. This was followed by a second interesting lecture entitled: “Work Permits” given by Eng. Medhat Kamel Wahib from the General Administration for Securing the Work Environment at the Ministry of Labor, where he explained what work permits are, their importance, what preparations are taken before issuing work permits, what are the types of work permits, work permit requirements, when work permits are cancelled, and what are the general precautions that must be taken before issuing work permits. This was followed by a third interesting lecture entitled: “Work Permits” given by Eng. Islam Hamdy Ibrahim, a researcher in the General Administration for Securing the Work Environment at the Ministry of Labor; where he explained what is meant by work accidents and the precautions that must be taken before starting the investigation into serious accidents, what are the procedures followed to investigate accidents, what are the procedures that must be taken by the facility in which the serious accident occurred, the time in which action must be taken, and what is the penalty for failure or delay in taking action according to Ministry of Labor Resolution No. 126 of 2003. The initiative ended with a wonderful fourth lecture entitled: "Occupational Safety and Health and Fire Fighting" delivered by Chemist/ Hassan Ali Hegazy - Occupational Safety and Health Consultant. The college administration, represented by Prof. Dr. Hani Qanawi - Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs and a welcoming speech from Prof. Dr. Manal Eid - Dean of the College of Pharmacy, was keen to honor the lecturers and they were given certificates of appreciation from the college... Then the initiative concluded with several group photos for all attendees, wishing for more of these seminars, workshops and lectures to spread the culture of occupational safety and health and secure the work environment for its benefits, the most important of which is preserving lives, property and possessions, and urging and motivating workers in its field to work with awareness, care and activity, as he explained in his report to the ministry that the initiative included several lectures, where the first lecture was given by Engineer Medhat Kamel from the Central Administration for Occupational Safety and Health and Securing the Work Environment at the Ministry about work permits.
