Environmental Day at the Faculty of Arts

As part of the community and awareness role of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, the Faculty of Arts, in collaboration with the General Administration of Environmental Projects, the Japanese School, Social Solidarity, and Civil Society Organizations, organized an Environmental Day event on Monday, November 4, 2024.

The event was attended by:

  • Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Gaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts,
  • Prof. Dr. Dina Abu Al-Ala, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development,
  • Dr. Mohamed Gamal, Director of the Japanese School, and Japanese Expert Kayoko,
  • Dr. Mustafa Amin, General Director of the General Administration of Environmental Projects.

Additionally, a number of faculty members, staff, and students were present.

The Environmental Day began with the national anthem, in cooperation with the Faculty’s Scout Team. The Dean then opened the environmental exhibition, followed by a visit to the Faculty's Educational Museum, where attendees explored its contents and watched a documentary film about the heritage of civilization. Fruit trees were also planted in the Faculty's courtyard.

The visit continued with a tour of the Human Sciences and Folk Heritage Cultural Center, where the Japanese School students were introduced to Egypt's rich folk heritage.

The Environmental Seminar started with the national anthem and the recitation of the Quran.

Prof. Dr. Dina Abu Al-Ala, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, delivered a speech about the Faculty’s role in utilizing environmental tools and the importance of preserving the environment. She also thanked the university leadership for their attention to community and environmental aspects.

Dr. Mustafa Amin, General Director of the General Administration of Environmental Projects in the Community Service Sector, spoke about the role of the sector in raising awareness about the importance of environmental preservation and supporting community and sports activities.

Dr. Mohamed Gamal, Director of the Japanese School, discussed the school’s role in community collaboration and conducting workshops for students on recycling paper and plastic, using eco-friendly tools, and promoting sustainability.

A video on the climate change storm was shown to highlight global climate changes. Prof. Dr. Dina Abu Al-Ala also spoke about the impact of climate change on humanity and society. A video was then presented showing the extent of pollution and the importance of environmental conservation, emphasizing the responsibility of individuals and society.

Dr. Mayasa gave a talk on the "Green Behavior" and the reasons behind the growing importance of this term. She noted that Egypt is one of the countries most affected by the consequences of climate change and highlighted the government's efforts to mitigate these effects.

At the end of the event, a discussion and dialogue session was held for the attendees, followed by the distribution of certificates of appreciation to those who participated in the event.
