"Seminar on the Right to Food at the Human Rights Unit, Mansoura University"
As part of the presidential initiative launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, titled "A Beginning for Building the Human," and in collaboration with the Human Rights Unit at the university, the Faculty of Specific Education at Mansoura University organized a seminar titled The Right to Food.
This event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khatir, President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President of the University for Environmental Affairs and Community Development. It was led by Prof. Dr. Mohy El-Din Ismail Al-Alami, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Mohsen El-Ghandour, Vice Dean for Environmental Affairs and Community Development.
The seminar was overseen by Prof. Dr. Tamer Saleh, Executive Director of the Human Rights Unit at the university, and coordinated by Dr. Fayza El-Azly, Coordinator of the Faculty’s Human Rights Unit, who pointed out that this seminar is the starting point for a series of seminars organized by the Human Rights Unit. Additionally, Ms. Maha Ahmed, Director of Student Affairs at the Faculty, was involved.
The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Abdel Ghani Mahmoud Abdel Ghani, who discussed the meaning of the right to food and its necessity for a dignified life. He emphasized that food is fundamental for the full development of both physical and mental capabilities. He also talked about the country’s strategy in global food security, including concepts such as food security, food sovereignty, and food sufficiency. He highlighted the relationship between the right to food, the right to health, and the right to life, noting that these rights cannot be achieved without the availability of food.
