Report on the Veterinary Medical, Treatment, and Advisory Convoy in Talbana Village, Mansoura Center

Introduction:

As part of the "Bidaya" initiative, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University organized a veterinary medical, treatment, and advisory convoy on Monday, November 4, 2024. The convoy was part of a series of activities aimed at promoting animal health and improving veterinary care in rural Egypt, in collaboration with the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in Dakahlia and Brook Hospital. The convoy was carried out in Talbana village, located in Mansoura Center, Dakahlia Governorate.

Sponsorship and Supervision:

The convoy was organized under the esteemed patronage of:

  • Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University
  • Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim Mohamed, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development
  • Prof. Dr. Maha Abdu Mohamed Abdu El-Ashmawy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University

The convoy was supervised by:

  • Prof. Dr. Mohamed Gaber El-Sayed Gaber, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development
  • Dr. Mamdouh Said Mohamed Hussein, Consultant in Obstetrics, Reproduction, and Artificial Insemination

Activities and Services Provided:

The convoy aimed to provide comprehensive veterinary medical services for livestock and poultry in the village, as well as offer guidance on animal health. A variety of activities and services were provided, including:

  • Medical examinations of animals, with a large number of animals being examined and treated.
  • Dispensing medicines from the convoy’s pharmacy for the animals that were examined.
  • Offering guidance to the local population on animal care and disease prevention.

Number of Animals Treated:

  • Cattle and buffalo: 75 heads treated
  • Sheep: 170 heads examined
  • Donkeys: 47 heads examined
  • Poultry: 950 birds treated

Interaction and Appreciation from the Residents:

At the end of the convoy, the residents of Talbana expressed their gratitude and appreciation to all the participants in the convoy and to Mansoura University for their efforts in providing medical and advisory support. They conveyed their deep thanks for this initiative, which positively impacted the health of animals in their village.

Conclusion:

The veterinary medical, treatment, and advisory convoy held in Talbana village serves as a prime example of the active role played by Mansoura University in serving the local community through the provision of medical and scientific support to the agricultural and veterinary sectors. This convoy reflects the fruitful collaboration between various entities, contributing to the improvement of the livelihoods of local residents and promoting sustainable development efforts in Dakahlia Governorate.
