The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Mansoura University organizes a workshop on "Healthy Food in the Month of Fasting"

As part of Mansoura University’s commitment to enhancing health and nutritional awareness among its members, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, represented by the General Administration of Environmental Projects, organized a workshop titled "Healthy Food in the Month of Fasting" on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Faculty Staff Club, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Abdel Qader Mubarak, Chairman of the Board of the Club. He and the team warmly received the participants and provided assistance for the success of the event.

The workshop was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Maha El Ashmawi, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Dr. El Sayed El Hassanein, Deputy Minister of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Mustafa Amin, Director of the General Administration of Environmental Projects at the university, supervised the organization of the workshop.

The workshop was attended by a delegation from the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, which included representatives from various scientific and administrative departments, in addition to the team from the Crisis and Disaster Management and Occupational Health and Safety Unit, as part of the faculty's commitment to continuous health awareness for its members.

Also participating in the workshop were:

  • Dr. Israa Ahmed Abdel Mageed, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Tourism Studies and Director of the Alumni Follow-up Unit.
  • Dr. Mohamed El Sayed, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Hotel Studies and Supervisor of the University’s Guest House.
  • Ms. Basma Mohamed Shaheen, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Tourism Studies and Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management and Occupational Health and Safety Unit.
  • Eng. Taqa Adel, Teaching Assistant in the Department of Hotel Studies and a member of the Crisis Management Team in the faculty.
  • Representatives from the administrative staff of the educational kitchen, student care, community service, and convoys in the faculty.

The faculty’s participation was guided by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Latif, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Duaa Samir Hazza, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Ms. Basma Mohamed Shaheen, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management and Occupational Health and Safety Unit, with documentation by Ms. Rania El Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Community Service and Convoys Department.

The workshop covered several important topics, including:

  • Safe slaughter methods, standards for selecting fresh meat, and how to distinguish between fresh and spoiled meat.
  • Choosing animals suitable for slaughter according to appropriate health standards.
  • The benefits of healthy food and its impact on human health, as well as the importance of consuming foods that combat aging and cancer, such as vegetables, fruits, and nuts.
  • Correct methods of storing meat, appropriate storage periods, and healthy ways to defrost frozen meat.
  • Standards for choosing healthy slaughterhouses to purchase high-quality meat and poultry products.

The workshop concluded with discussions and answers to attendees’ questions, emphasizing the importance of adhering to health standards in nutrition, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
